Recently graduated from a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in communications, marketing, business administration, website development or any other related field from a recognized university.

Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months, with possibility of extension.


Assignments that enhance skills in content creation, communication, social media marketing, and website development.

Access to premium online tools and softwares for hands-on learning and skills development.

Sponsorship to attend SynBio Africa conference 2024 and other events.

Modest monthly facilitation to cover internet and other necessary remote work expenses.

Participation in SynBio Africa meetings and events as part of the team.

Possibility of joining SynBio Africa as a full-time staff, based on performance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Content and communications intern

Create, update, and maintain engaging and informative content for all SynBio Africa websites other digital platforms.

Ensure all website content is accurate, current, consistent and aligns with SynBio Africa’s brand standards.

Work closely with SynBio Africa community to enhance our online presence.

Develop and promote compelling content that highlights our initiatives and achievements.

Develop and manage monthly and weekly content calendars.

Determine optimal posting times and strategies to maximize engagement.

Assist in drafting and distributing internal communications, such as newsletters, memos, and announcements.

Support the development of external communications, including press releases, reports, and promotional materials.

Coordinate with stakeholders, including partners, donors, and media, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Develop and maintain a database of key contacts and stakeholders for streamlined communication efforts.

Assist in promoting and providing coverage for SynBio Africa events, both online and offline.

Create event-related content, including pre-event promotions and post-event summaries.

Ensure all communications reflect SynBio Africa’s brand identity and values.

Monitor and manage the organization’s online reputation and address any public relations issues promptly.

Prepare monthly reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

2. Social Media and Marketing Intern

Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content across all SynBio Africa social media platforms.

Create visually appealing posts, including graphics, videos, and written content, ensuring brand consistency.

Assist in planning and executing social media and marketing campaigns to promote initiatives and events.

Monitor campaign performance and suggest adjustments to optimize results.

Engage with the online community by initiating conversations and encouraging user-generated content.

Collaborate with influencers and stakeholders to amplify SynBio Africa’s reach.

Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media and email marketing campaigns.

Develop and implement strategies to attract new sponsors and partners, aligning with SynBio Africa’s vision and values.

Produce content for social media and other platforms to highlight sponsorship stories and the impact of collaborations.

Participate in planning and executing events, both virtual and in-person, to engage sponsors and different stakeholders. 

Report on sponsorship activities and outcomes, providing insights into the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.

Prepare monthly reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

3. Website development and admin intern

Assist in the design and development of new visually appealing and user-friendly website features and functionalities.

Upload new content, including text, images, and multimedia, ensuring consistency and quality.

Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep websites running smoothly.

Provide technical support for website-related issues and troubleshoot problems as they arise.

Implement search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to improve website visibility and search rankings.

Work with other teams to integrate website functionalities with social media, email marketing, and other digital platforms.

Monitor website performance and analytics to identify areas for improvement.

Use tools like Google Analytics to track key metrics and generate reports.
